Teen Draw and Paint w/Elizabeth Jenkins
Middle & High School Ages Welcome!
Young artists are invited to join us after school to exercise your powers of perception and painting. We will focus on concepts that can be applied with a variety of media.
Sessions:
1. CHARCOAL – How can we draw without using a line? How can that help you see shapes and shadows differently? We will draw objects we can find around the room.
2. SIGHT-SIZE – How can we draw more accurately? We start with copying a drawing in exactly the same size. Then we will apply these ideas to drawing objects in real life.
3. COLOR – How can we draw light and shadow with color? We will use 2 complimentary colors (no mixing) to create a drawing from life or from a photo.
4. MIDTONES – How can we simplify what we see? We will recreate famous artwork in simple tones to learn about composition.
5. BUILDING A PAINTING – We will paint a portrait from a photo using a structural underpainting, simple block-in, and then refining.
6. MISTAKES – When to adjust, when to try again, and when to reimagine your artwork.
All supplies provided.
Registration for this class closes October 3, 2024 at NOON. If you do not wish to register online, you may come into the RACC during open hours and register in person.
