Picturing America

 We are very pleased to announce that the RACC has received an award from the National Endowment for the Humanities in partnership with the American Library Association. The Community Center has received 40 high-quality prints of American classic artwork such as:

  • Walker Evans, “Brooklyn Bridge” (pictured on the left)
  • Mary Cassat’s, “The Boating Party”
  • Frank Lloyd Wright's, “Falling Water”

  • These images will touch the community in many ways.

    • Beginning October 7, RACC will offer afternoon tea and desserts to accompany thoughtful discussion on classic artwork from America's history.
    • The RACC has been working closely with the Gull Lake School System to incorporate the use of these historic images in the classroom beginning with the 2009/2010 school year.
    • The images will aslo be used to offer continuing Education opportunities for the general public.

    Please contact us if you would like to volunteer as an instructor to use these images at the center to reach the community for classes that teach Art, Science, Liturature, History or others.
